Ready for a break from the endless drama surrounding celebrities and politicians? Do you long to hear real stories, about real people - honest, heartwarming, and inspiring? 2010 is the year to focus on the people who matter most. Gather and preserve the stories of ordinary people in your life who live truly remarkable lives: your grandparents, parents, children, siblings, and yourself. Yes, your own life story deserves to be recorded, shared and remembered.
Through a series of free workshops, the Utah members of the Association of Personal Historians (APH) will teach individuals and communities to transform their personal and family stories from fleeting memories into tangible heirloom keepsakes. These workshops will be held at various locations along the Wasatch Front to guide participants through the myriad ways they can preserve their stories and histories. Professional personal historians will give pointers and share resources for writing and editing, interviewing, working with pictures, recording video and audio formats, printing books and many other essential aspects of bringing these important stories into a lasting form.
Whether you plan to do the work yourself, or hire a professional, APH members are ready and willing to guide you toward positive results. Take this opportunity to see completed personal histories and get ideas.
Can't attend a scheduled workshop? Experienced APH members are also available to speak to your group, ready to share inspiring, thought-provoking, and information-rich material and resources for creating personal histories.
